DMA Law is looking for a Conveyancing Assistant to support our busy Property Department.
We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds, including experienced secretaries,
paralegals, and law graduates. Although this is a non fee-earning position and will not
involve managing your own caseload, for the right candidate, there may be an opportunity
to progress to some limited fee-earning work.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting file handlers in the day-to-day management of conveyancing cases
- Opening files, drafting letters and preparing electronic forms as directed by file
handlers - Ensuring that all client related details/documents are recorded and maintained within
the Case Management System - Maintaining up-to-date diary systems, including key dates and reminders
- Requesting Office Copy Entries, Land Registry, Local Authority and AML Searches
- Checking LMS/Lender Exchange for mortgage offers and updating lenders
- Dealing with telephone queries proactively and, if necessary, taking comprehensive
messages - Filing, photocopying, scanning and faxing, as required
- Depending on experience, working towards providing holiday and absence cover for
file handlers
Essential skills & experience
- Possession of, or ability to develop, all round experience in conveyancing work
- Possession of good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
- Ability to create and administer day to day work efficiently and effectively
- Possession of a good level of computer literacy and the ability to use bespoke
computer systems
