DMA Law is looking to appoint a Legal Secretary to its busy Family Law Department.

  • Location: One of our 6 office locations, to be determined
  • Salary: Dependant on experience
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 with one hour for lunch (35 hours pw)
  • Job Type: Full time
  • Basis: Permanent
  • Start Date: ASAP

More about the role:

The Legal Secretary will provide administrative support to the Family Law team to ensure the department runs smoothly and its work is undertaken effectively. Responsibilities will include:

  • Taking new enquiries
  • Booking appointments and managing Fee Earner diaries
  • Opening new files, ensuring that relevant compliance standards are met
  • Drafting forms (under supervision)
  • Creating letters using standard templates
  • Transcription of dictation
  • Making and receiving telephone calls on behalf of the team
  • Taking payments from clients
  • Managing incoming/outgoing post on behalf of the team
  • Filing, photocopying and faxing as required
  • Seeing clients on behalf of the respective fee earner in order to deal with document signing or general updates on progress of file
  • To apply and adhere to accounts processes and procedures

Essential skills:

A minimum of two years’ secretarial experience/within a law firm will be required for this position. In addition, the successful applicant must be:

  • Well organised
  • Proactive, able to use their own initiative and work to deadlines
  • Good with clients and colleagues alike
  • Computer literate
  • Willing to learn and to develop new skills and knowledge
  • A good team player
